Welcome to Purpose

The reason we are here is to promote writing in all its’ forms. Our aim is to give our fellow-writers a chance to publish their work informally while giving the rest of us a chance to enjoy their creativity.

The forms of writing included will range from prose to poetry, fiction to non-fiction and everything else in between.

You can enjoy our seasonal publications online or by picking up a paper copy, made available in cafes and bars around Leeds and Hong Kong's SoHo.

A word about the editors:

Madeleine Miller and Esther Richards decided to start Purpose upon realising how many of their friends were talented yet un-read writers.

As editors-in-chief of Purpose they choose what goes in to each publication.

Having both lived abroad at one time or another, Madeleine and Esther share a love of international literature,
especially Chinese writing.
